Founded in 2001, originally known as Modern Company (MoCo), Rock Dance Collective II (RDCII) prepares dancers ages nine to eighteen to step into the world as thoughtful, research-driven artists and embodied risk-takers. Each year, RDCII develops an original evening-length dance concert at the Ailey Citigroup Theater in NYC. In the development of the show, young dancers tackle big art through big ideas. This process pushes them beyond technique, cultivating collaboration, creative problem-solving, and a bold artistic voice. Company members are at the core of creation, shaping everything from movement language to character development and structural design.

RDCII stands at the intersection of pre-professional training and the professional stage. Dancers gain access to a wide spectrum of performance opportunities: repertory with acclaimed choreographers, site-specific installations, student-led choreography, and shared performances with our professional company, Rock Dance Collective. Credits include The Outlet Dance Project’s Day of Dance at Grounds for Sculpture, Rock Dance Collective’s Spring Season at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Scarlet Day of Service at Rutgers University, the Run Off in New Brunswick, NJ, and the Montclair Dance Festival.

RDCII meets weekly from September through June for company class and rehearsal. Admission is by teacher evaluation. To inquire, please email washingtonrockdance@gmail.com to schedule an audition.
